About Lance Hardy, Photographer

Lance HardyI credit my fascination with and love of photography to a wild childhood imagination and a fortunate opportunity to discover who I was when it really counted. During college studies for computer science and architectural/graphic design (an interesting pairing all around), I grabbed the old family 35mm Asahi Pentax ES II and started taking photography classes. As my "career" appeared to settle on architectural design, my creative and artistic focus lingered on shooting and swiftly narrowed to glamour and fine art nudes. It was the progression of the early Internet into a more graphical (photo oriented) medium that convinced me - regardless of where my left brain dwelled, my right brain was free to explore the wonderful world of my photography.

I don't have a "box" to fit in. I have no lines to cross with my coloring. I find inspiration and express it as I will.

I believe there is a classic, "comfortable" concept of boudoir photography I don't aspire to (see: Big Hair Soft Focus Mall Photography). The intent doesn't always have to be a special gift for the husband or boyfriend and the end result doesn't have to be a framed photo to hang in the entryway to make your stuffy friends and family uncomfortable - not that there is ANYTHING wrong with that. A boudoir or fine art nude session can be an incredible shot in the arm for any woman - an experience to make her feel truly beautiful and sexy, confident and free. I like to think of my clients and models pulling a glossy print out of a drawer from time to time as a smile blossoms on their faces, the memory of that incredible feeling coming back to them and reinforcing how wonderful and unique they truly are.
